Masters' speedskating news

Ivar Njos MGS 2016We can now present the updated IMSSC Record List for the season 2015/2016. A number of 18 new IMSSC Records (unofficial Masters’ World Records) were achieved. Kolomna accounts for 8 of these records, while Inzell and Leeuwarden accounts for 3 each, Heerenveen for 2, and Hamar and Baselga di Piné for 1 each. The record from Baselga deserves some extra attention. Ivar Njøs/NOR (in the picture on the outer lane the day before the record), AG 50, raced 500m in 38,47 seconds and set the first outdoor record since 2010 - also that one in Baselga. It shows that when the weather is favourable, outdoor tracks can still offer top skating conditions. The most recent outdoor record still standing is from Davos 2006. The IMSSC Record List 2016 can be found by clicking on Competitions-->Records.

With the World Cup Final in the weekend before in Heerenveen, we could count on very good ice conditions. And there was !!! This and the enthusiasm of the participants made we had two great tournaments.
