8th Master Sprint Games - 1st day

MGS 2016 2Opening day today, February 26th, 2016, for the International Sprint Games in Baselga di Pinè, Trento, Italy, in a shining sun and some wind. It was the turn of Ladies and Men from 55 to 30 age groups, with their first two distances of 500m and 1,000m. 14 Nations were represented (ITA, NED, RUS, CAN, GER, AUS, FIN, JAP, NOR, KAZ, SWI, USA, ESP and GBR), for a total of about 110 athletes, of whom 25 Ladies.

Protagonist of the event is Aurivonaldo Castro do Norte, AG65, a Brasilian athlete racing for Switzerland. A Brasilian Master skater for the first time in the Italian track – if not the first Brasilian skater at all! 

MGS 2016 1

Tomorrow, for the second day of races, Ladies of 65-60 age group and Men from 75 to 60 age groups will skate their first two distances. The program of the day will be completed by the third and fourth distances of Ladies from 55 to 30 age groups who raced today.
